Despite what you may think Queen Esther did not “use her position of power to save the Jews.” She did not have any power to do anything, she was always at the mercy of her husband the King. She was Queen when Mordecai sent word to her of the plot he overheard to annihilate the Jews and she complained that there was nothing she could do because the King had not asked her into his presence for some 3 months, and if she dared to seek audience with him, he could behead her because no one, not even the Queen, could go in to see the King unless he requests their presence.
What Esther had was God’s favor. God put favor on her to save his people. That is why she had to ask all of Israel and her Persian handmaids to fast for her so that she received favor with the King and he would not behead her as she planned to go in to see him. Esther planned to do the opposite of the deposed Queen Vashti before her. Vashti got deposed when she did not go when this same King requested her presence, now Esther planned to go when the King did not request her! It was a no-win situation either way, but for Esther, it was worse, because while Vashti was only deposed as Queen, Esther could lose her head for this!
Esther was Queen and had no power. But it wasn’t until she rode up on the heels of God’s favor into that throne room unannounced that day that God used what was truly Esther, her beauty, to melt her husband’s heart in such a way that he handed out the scepter to her to spare her life for doing that, and went as far as promised her half of his Kingdom if she would ask for it. But all she asked for that day was for him and his Vice President Haman to attend a banquet she will host.
It was not Esther’s power, she did not have any. What Esther had was God’s favor upon her that
he bestowed on her abundantly to fulfill one of the greatest tasks in history to have a Muslim Persian King write an order that the Jewish people had the right to forever bear arms and defend themselves from their enemies… his people. And at the end, he gifted his Jewish Queen Esther with half of his Kingdom and made her cousin his right-hand man! That would be some 38 provinces throughout the Persian Empire that Esther owned. All because she had God’s divine favor stamped all over her. She moved in God’s power, not hers.

The book of Esther does not ever mention God’s name in it, but neither did it need to. It had the stamp of God all over it in a profound way. The Jews were living in exile in Babylon/Persia in a strange land where the name of God was never mentioned unless inside the safety of the Jewish home. So the story would never be told calling Jehovah or Yahweh as God. But never doubt for a minute what brought Esther out on the winning side of glory. It wasn’t her position. It was God’s hand moving in that palace through her all over that King’s heart and the love he had for his Queen… the helpmate, the woman God chose for him.
No matter what position or title we hold, until we walk in the steps ordered by God for us, we will never come to know the powerful reason why we were created that causes us to walk in divine purpose and authority.
